Yesterday, the Washington Commanders announced that Ron Rivera has decided to go with Sam Howell as their starting quarterback. Washington has had a bit of a revolving door at the QB position in the last few years, Howell marking their seventh different starter in as many years on game one.
Howell appeared in one game for Washington last season, going 11/19 with 169 yards, adding in a touchdown. Washington is in a bit of a rebuilding stage, especially after receiving new ownership.
With Howell being named as the opening day starter, Washington is fully committed to the second year QB. Howell is going to get the opportunity to show what he's worth in a promising, rebuilding franchise.
