In March of 2023, the New York Giants traded a third-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, to the Las Vegas Raiders in exchange for TE Darren Waller. In the grand scheme of things, that third-round pick was what the Giants got in the Kadarius Toney trade.
Waller is one of the best TE in the NFL. However, that is when he is actually on the field. It's no secret that Darren Waller's biggest issue is health and being available.
Since coming to New York, Waller has made an impression in the clubhouse and has already become one of the leaders. New York is a young team that is filled with untapped potential. QB Daniel Jones has never had big team weapons to throw to, outside of RB Saquon Barkley.
In the two preseason games the Giants have played, Waller has 3 receptions, totaling for 30 yards. Jones has already made Waller one of his favorite targets.
With a full season of the Daniel Jones, Darren Waller connection, there's no telling what the rest of the offense can provide. It's going to be interesting to see what Darren Waller can bring to this young Giants team for a full season.
